A Quilt For A Sweet Boy.

A friend of mine had a little boy about 8 months ago. I should have had this done ages ago but such is life. I hope it gets lots of snuggles and love.

It's Hubby's Turn.

He's been waiting not so patiently and dropping hints like crazy for me to finish this. So it's finally on the machine!

And vola it's finished!

It's finally finished.

I finally had a few minutes to bind my nieces quilt. I even stuck one of my snazzy new quilt labels on it. The labels are from Etsy. They are super cute and the store is Emily Ann's Kloset. I hope my niece loves it.

UFO #1

One of goals for quilting is to sew from my stash as much as possible. The second is to quilt some tops I have sitting around. So this project covers both of those. Woo hoo! This lap quilt is for my niece. She loves "funky cute" as she calls it and I think this Jolly Bar of Bandana by Me & My Sisters Designs fits the bill. I'm keeping it simple and using some straight lines for the quilting. I can't wait to give this to her!

My New Ironing Board

Regular ironing boards aren't so great when your trying to iron a larger quilt top. So today my husband helped me make a new ironing board. We used a piece of plywood, 2 layers of 100% cotton quilt batting and some fabric.

It's 26"x 39" fits nicely in the corner of my table where I can press a small HST or a queen size quilt with ease. I just love the fabric. I found it buried in my stash and it has to be at least 7 or more years old. So it was put to good use today. Hubby  also decided I needed a little home for my iron as well. Isn't he sweet.

PS I love my purple Oliso iron! My 2 oldest sons bought it for me for Christmas.

Getting Organized in 2016

Today I spent some time reorganizing my sewing area, fabric and patterns. Trying to get a game plan on which quilts I'm going to tackle this year. I would like to complete 1 a month. I also have 3 little girls eagerly waiting to start their quilts as well. I'm not including their quilts in my total, those are additional. I think I have 11 patterns picked out so far. I may hold off on choosing the last one in case is see a new must sew. I also want to make a few mini quilts for my wall. I don't have any yet. I have 5 quilt tops done ready to be quilted. A stack of 12" quilt blocks to make 4 Farm Girl Vintage quilts and I have 2 blocks left to make to complete my Snapshots quilt top also So I have lots to finish up as I also start new projects. I foresee a  busy quilty year!! Stay tuned for more info on which quilt patterns made my must sew list and items from my UFO pile getting completed.
